FUTURE CONCEPTS - ELECTRIC CAR

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., will present various show cars at the upcoming 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, including "Leaf", an electric vehicle (EV) which is slated for global launch and volume production in late 2010, "Land Glider", an EV concept car, and "Qazana", which is an entirely new type of compact sport crossover, which made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has previewed its electric car platform on a Tiida-based prototype to demonstrate the superior driving pleasure of a pure zero emission vehicle. It also showcased a sophisticated EV-IT system developed to support electric driving 24/7.

Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, this Electric car prototype is part of Nissan's substantial research and development programme on zero-emission vehicles. This latest generation vehicle features a front-wheel-drive layout and uses a newly developed 80kW motor and inverter.

Two years after the launch of the original Pivo, the futurists at Nissan's Advanced Vehicle Engineering Department describe the Pivo2 Concept Electric Vehicle as an "intelligent life form design" that proposes an entirely new relationship between car and driver.

There is no better representation of Nissan's vision for the future of Electric cars than the new Nuvu concept vehicle, a 'new view' of the type of car consumers are likely to be driving in the middle of next decade.
