Nissan Australia to move national headquarters

Melbourne, Australia (14 June, 2019)–  After more than 40 years in Dandenong South, Nissan Australia will shift its national headquarters to the south-eastern suburb of Mulgrave, moving into a new custom-built, environmentally friendly facility.

At 254 Wellington Road, Mulgrave - only 25 kilometres from Melbourne’s central business district - Nissan’s new head office, developed by Frasers Property Australia and ESR Australia, will achieve a 5-Star Green Star Design certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Providing its employees with the perfect working environment, Nissan’s new offices will be spread across five floors of an eight level building, including the ground floor, there will be over 9,0000sqm of office space, an 1850sqm workshop and 550 parking bays.

With the Victorian Government helping announce the move, the state-of-the-art facilities will be home to Nissan Australia marketing, sales and customer service departments, Nissan Financial Services Australia, the Victorian regional office and technical training.

“Nissan’s current office was officially opened in June, 1977, so over the four decades that we have based ourselves here it has served us well, but we have grown as a business since then,” said Nissan Australia managing director Stephen Lester.

“Enjoying the modern facilities that come with a new office will take our business to new heights, helping us to better look after all of our stakeholders, particularly current and future Nissan owners.”

Nissan Australia plans to move into the new premise in mid-to-late 2020.

The move follows the opening of the new Alliance National Distribution Centre last July, a shared parts and accessories warehouse designed to maximise productivity, efficiency and accuracy in order fulfillment for Nissan dealerships nationally.

Based in the Melbourne suburb of Truganina, the purpose-built facility is strategically located between Melbourne’s sea container terminal and the airport.

The facility has direct access to all interstate roads, houses more than 90,000 different parts, is over 37,000 square metres in size, and is part of a CEVA super site that is the largest logistics facility in the southern hemisphere.

The Nissan Casting Australia Plant (NCAP), which manufactures a variety of exports parts, remains in Dandenong South.

Employing approximately 200 highly skilled workers, the plant runs three shifts a day, six days a week making approximately 2.6 million die-cast aluminium parts and over 16,000 tow bars - with an export value of $82.5 million - annually.

Parts are distributed to Alliance vehicle assembly plants and Nissan affiliate powertrain plants globally – specifically in Japan, the USA, the UK, Thailand, South Korea and Mexico – and supplies companies such as Calsonic Kansei, Aichi Kikai and transmission specialist JATCO, all of which demand the highest possible quality.

NCAP also manufactures exclusive parts for the new Nissan LEAF including; an EV water jacket Inverter, Inverter cover, Inverter case and Motor Stator Housing. Parts out of NCAP are badged with a Kangaroo insignia.
